Election Commission of India
Expected Voters for the 2024 Lok Sabha Election
In the previous election, the ECI recorded 90 crore voters, out of which 15 million were first-time voters
According to the Indian constitution, in order to vote, a person must be an Indian citizen and at least 18 years old. They also need to have a Voter ID issued by the Election Commission of India. This year, the Election Commission expects 6 crore new voters to participate in the upcoming general election in 2024, bringing the total number of voters to 96 crore.
The ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party, will be defending its seats against an alliance of 26 parties called I.N.D.I.A. The alliance includes parties like the National Congress Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Janta Dal, Samajwadi Party, and others. In a recent meeting, it was discussed that Mallikarjun Karge from the Congress party could be the Prime Ministerial face of the alliance. The chances of the BJP party forming the government again in 2024 are high, considering the popularity of Narendra Modi. The party has also won state elections in Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. However, the final outcome will only be known after the election takes place.
